PRESS RELEASE: Orange County’s 4th District Sponsors Arts Grant Relief Program

Local nonprofit Charitable Ventures will administer funds to support arts-related small businesses and nonprofit organizations impacted by COVID-19

 

SANTA ANA, CA (May 28, 2021) Beginning Friday, May 28, 2021 at 9:00am PDT, applications will open for Supervisor Doug Chaffee’s 4th District Arts Grant Relief Program.  Arts-related businesses include, but are not limited to, visual arts, music, dance, theater, and/or drama with an education component for those under the age of 18 (children’s theater group, dance instruction, music education/lessons, painting, puppetry, pottery, movie making, performing arts, storytelling, mosaic, silk screen, costuming. This Art Grant Relief Program will support arts-related small businesses and nonprofit organizations impacted by COVID-19 and situated within the 4th Supervisorial District in one of the two following categories:

  • Decline in Revenue: Economic impact due to COVID-19 caused a 25%decline in revenues for the most recent quarter, when compared to a reference quarter that occurred prior to COVID-19.
  • COVID-19 Prevention: Grant assistance due to a need to implement COVID-19 prevention or mitigation tactics to adopt safer opening procedures.

 

Grant awards – $5,000 flat rate, single payment – will be made on a first come, first served basis. In total, $1M in American Rescue Act funding will be distributed in the 4th District.

The funds will be administered by local nonprofit and fiscal sponsor Charitable Ventures, based in Santa Ana. Charitable Ventures previously administered a State contract to lead 2020 Census outreach and education efforts for Orange County’s nonprofit sector, and recently administered the 4th and 5th Districts’ Small Business Grant Relief Programs.
